All done!

So, here is the finished painting. I would like to learn to be a little more loose with my illustrations and less technical.
I think that I tend to go a little overboard on the detail sometimes, but it's just so much fun to keep noodling on a painting. Unproductive, but fun none the less.
I guess my next assignment is to be productive...I could try and convince myself of "quality, not quantity", but I would have a harder time convincing my wallet of that...But don't get me wrong, I won't slack on quality!

a giant problem...

I thought I would share a pencil drawing for an illustration I'm working on right now just for fun. I don't really do a lot of Middle Earth art but I was laying in bed one morning staring at the patterns in the ceiling when I saw shapes that reminded me of a giant with big hands. That got me wanting to draw a picture of a giant so I started thinking of fun situations and I came up with the idea of giants being attacked by swarms of black birds (or crebain) the way we get pestered by gnats and mosquitoes. I liked the perspective which made him look huge and I gave him a boulder to heave at the birds in his anger.
I will be sure to share the finished painting next time.
