don't bug me...

I dont know this guy, but I sketched him anyway...

what to wear, what to wear...

I found a pretty cool book the other day at a used book store. It is called A Pictorial History of Costume. I have always struggled at coming up with interesting costumes for characters that I am illustrating. This book contains over 1,000 accurate illustrations of clothing since the beginning of man. Some of them have great potential with being blended in with some modern ideas, especially the older Dutch and German outfits in the book.
Each page is basically text-free and loaded end to end with color illustrations like this one on the cover. I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with the same issues.

10 years and counting...

My wife Gina and I spent the weekend up at Lake Erie celebrating our 10 year anniversary. As you can see in the photo below, we had a fantastic time together.

While we were there we spent some time collecting shells and even sketching some that we found. Gina and I have really enjoyed drawing from nature together lately. Here are a few that I did Saturday, I think Gina will be sharing hers on her own blog, which I hope will be up shortly. More on that later.

ginderlalabble...(don't ask)

Painted this guy last night. It belongs to a short childrens story my wife Gina wrote. I hope to finish it with her someday. Once again, this was nothing more than HB pencil, FW black ink with dip pens and fine nibs, finished with Acryla Gouache.
